Introduction

The website is a presentation of the art work created for an illustrated version of the book on its 40th anniversary in 2012. The landscape and the animals represented in these paintings are inspired by real photographs personally taken during my journeys to the Berkshire Downs or surroundings areas. All the images are copyright of Aldo Galli.

In order to demonstrate how the book has inspired the paintings, all the related passages have been added to each painting in cursive font. Words and sentences strictly relating the book to the creation of the paintings are underlined.
